About Campus

Tengeru Institute of Community Development – Mabughai Campus is located in Lushoto, Tanga Region. The Campus has a long-standing history of providing technical and community development training. It traces its establishment to 1975, when it operated as a Rural Training Centre under the Lushoto Integrated Development Project (LIDEP), before evolving through several institutional transformations. In 2008, it became a Community Development Technical Training Institute and was subsequently incorporated into TICD from 1 July, 2026. Mabughai Campus offers Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4), Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5), and Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Civil Engineering with Community Development. The Campus was fully registered as a technical education and training institution on 8 October 2010 under NACTE, with Registration No. REG/EOS/040. The Campus undertakes training, research, consultancy, innovation, and community engagement, with a focus on responding to community needs and supporting national development priorities. Its Digital Innovation Centre promotes innovation through programmes including Elimika, Eureka, Nje ya Box, and Take-off.
